Environment

The Century Yuasa's Environmental Policy specifies the measures taken to ensure the impact we have on our shared environment is minimised. We are consistently seeking to improve our policies and processes to ensure environmental protection and sustainability.

SUSTAINABILITY

Century Yuasa is committed to sustainability and minimising the environmental impact associated with the manufacture and supply of lead acid batteries within Australia. This commitment is the driving force behind the implementation of the following initiatives:

  • Battery Recycling
  • Australian Packaging Covenant
  • EcoBiz Partnership
  • NPI Reporting

BATTERY RECYCLING

98% of your used lead acid battery is recyclable. Century Yuasa launched a nationwide recycling program in 2008 and has since increased our recycling rate of used lead acid batteries year on year. Our network of more than 1,100 Battery Recycling Centres makes it easy for businesses and individuals to recycle their old battery free of charge and help us play our part in protecting our precious environment.

NPI REPORTING

There has been increasing community demand to know about toxic substances emitted to the local environment. Australian, state and territory governments have implemented National Environment Protection Measures (NEPMs), which help protect or manage particular aspects of the environment. Australian industries are required to monitor measure and report their emissions under the legislation which governs the National Pollutants Inventory (NPI).
